N30,000 is new minimum wage as labour suspends strike action

After one year of negotiations, the tripartite committee on minimum wage has settled for N30,000.

The new figure would be unveiled later today when President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to receive the report of the committee at the Presidential VIlla slated for 4.15pm today Tuesday, 6th November 2018.

Announcing the suspension of the strike at the end of the deliberations of the committee last night at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation office, President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Ayuba Wabba said the suspension of the strike action marked the end of the negotiations.

It was learnt that a footnote that clearly states the observations of the federal government on the ability to pay the figure would be inserted in the report.
