The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has started Fund-wide training of its staff in preparation for the take-off of its digital platform for registration of companies, claims processing and payment of compensation.
The Managing Director of NSITF, Adebayo Somefun explained that the ERC3 system was borne out of the management’s desire to digitalise all operations of the Fund on real time basis and in line with global world practices.
Somefun, who stated this at a two-day workshop in Yola, Adamawa state on Electronic Revenue Compliance, Claims and Compensation (ERC3) and change management, stressed the many gains of the system.
The NSITF boss, who spoke via a teleconference said: “Our mandate as an agency of government is to be proactive in providing social security and safety nets against deprivation and income insecurity in accordance with national and international laws and conventions as well as world best practices.”
The NSITF helmsman explained that NSITF was determined to improve the status of all its transactions with a view to instilling transparency and accountability in all our processes, and simplifying the modules of registration and payments for employers.
“Definitely when this is achieved, then NSITF’s vision to be the leading social security institution in Africa will be fulfilled with a model for other social security institutions on the continent to emulate,” the MD stated while calling on all staff of the Fund to dedicate themselves to the new system of operations and processes.
With the deployment of the ERC3 software, employers can now register their companies in the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS), make contributions promptly and print the Remita receipts on the go, while making online applications for claims in the event of a workplace injury,” he explained.
ECS is designed to provide compensation to employers who suffer from occupational diseases, sustain injuries from accidents in the course of employment, and also provides compensation for dependants of employees who may have lost their lives in the course of work.
The two-day workshop, which held at the American University, Yola recently is one in a series of on-going trainings to be held in all 11 regions and 56 branches of the Fund.
